A históriaThe story
In the GrowKind Forest lives Bloom, a flower-boy with blue hair. Old Oak has left him a small wooden bike, made for learning. It has no pedals. Bloom likes looking at it, but he doesn’t like imagining what might happen when he climbs on.
Before he pedals, Bloom finds there is much more to learn: feeling his body, finding his balance, dealing with fear, falling, getting up and trying again. In each chapter, a forest friend helps him with one stage. But no one can ride for him.
It is a story to read aloud, one chapter at a time. Afterwards, if you like, you can go and try it together.
The story follows the order in which the body learns to ride a bike. Each chapter is one stage.
A helmet, both feet on the ground and one small push.
Baixar os ombros, abrir as mãos, respirar e deixar a bicicleta balançar.Dropping the shoulders, loosening the hands, breathing and letting the bike wobble.
Uma descida pequena e os dois pés no ar.A small slope and both feet in the air.
Nas curvas, os olhos vão primeiro e a bicicleta segue-os.On a bend, the eyes go first and the bike follows them.
Looking up, seeing the stone from far away and listening to the path.
Os amigos podem acompanhar. A bicicleta, só Bloom a pode andar.Friends can come along. Only Bloom can ride the bike.
Sozinho, Bloom usa tudo o que aprendeu. On his own, Bloom uses everything he has learned.
A fall doesn’t erase what has been learned.
Uma competência nova, na mesma bicicleta.A new skill, on the same bike.
Bloom walks beside another child, without holding the bike.
